Causes: Disaster Aid, Disaster Preparedness & Relief Services
Mission: To foster high professional standards and acts of service by its membership to the community for the provision of emergency, general and technical rescue services. It seeks to carry out these spirited goals by organizing local residents and students, provide training, and coordinate services on conjunction with established agencies in orange county, nc and the university of north carolina.
Programs: The ems division provides standby ems coverage at various special events, such as high school and unc sporting events and community festivals in the chapel hill/carrboro nc area. Ems also staffs an ambulance on the unc campus on thursday, friday, and saturday nights.
technical rescue team focuses on three specific disciplines, swift water rescue, confined space rescue, and high angle rescue.
sors offers free cpr and aed classes to individuals and groups within orange county nc. Volunteer american heart association (aha) instructors teach basic life support; heart-saver cpr certification classes. Also offered are aha first aid classes. Sors also partners with the chapel hill parks & recreation department to offer cpr and aed classes to all individuals.
