Mission: Improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
Programs: Form 990-ez, part iii, line 28 - first accomplishment:soroptimist international of hanford holds an annual awards banquet to recognize outstanding women in the community. Scholarships and donations to charities of the award recipients' choice are given during the awards banquet. The awards are given to women who are the main financial support for their family and are returning to school in order to improve their lives and the lives of their families. Awards are also given to women who have significantly impacted the community through acts of service.
the soroptimists provide support for a variety of local causes such as women's shelters, youth camps, fine arts and music sponsorships, the miss kings county scholarship oageant and the local library youth reading program. All of these causes share the soroptimists' vision for improving the lives of women and their children. The soroptimists sponor and actively participate in the s-clubs of all three high school campuses in town. Their goal is to teach leadership skills and community service to the s-club members.
