Programs: Someone cares, through the reach program (reaching educating and assisting in community health), encompasses msm and transgender outreach programs. Through the reach program, in 2014, has reached 6,897 individuals. The program provides condom distribution, free hiv testing, std screening, treatment, advocacy, social services, and mental health. The program addresses individuals holistically which has alleviated barriers to accessing services to becoming well.
the hype program (helping youth with prevention and empowerment), has increased its efforts to target those lgbt youth which are high at risk for contracting the hiv virus and std; getting them into medical services early before seriously becoming ill. The program also empowers youth to make healthy lifestyle choices as well as offering much needed mental health services. Through the program we reached over 3,913 individuals in 2014.
someone cares transgender program real/t (reaching educating assisting liberating transgender), in 2014 has done a fantastic job with providing intrinsic programing that elevates the mine set and livelihood of transgender individuals that are male to female. The program reached 819 transgender individuals in 2014. The program offers job readiness & placement, name change, mental health, and hiv/std screenings and treatment which are essential to their community.
