I have volunteered at events for the Silver Lake Community Youth Center a number of times over the past few years. I don't live in Silver Lake but every time I have helped out with something I am always impressed with how invested the local community is in this program.
The kids always seem to be having fun and the directors genuinely enjoy finding creative ways to teach and challenge the students.
In addition the center has become a kind of hub in the community, hosting plays, dinners and other fundraisers that almost everyone in the town seems to turn out for.
