Mission: The associations primary exempt purpose is to provide public education regarding the benefit of silica fume and monitoring legislation affecting the promotion and use of silica fume. The sfa advances the use of silica fume in the nation's concrete infrastructure and works to increase the awareness and understanding of silica fume concrete in the private civil engineering sector; among state transporation officials; and in the academic community.
Programs: Web site development within the broad sfa home page, a site for technology transfer of information on silica fume.
general communications. Development and dissemination of fact sheets, project profiles, slide sets and other general information tools.
life-cycle costing. Cooperating with nist to produce a standardized model for life-cycle costing of concrete treatments where chloride exposure is critical.
