Fantastic organization! They have a neat suite of data visualizations designed to help shelters using all collected data. Some other organizations cherry pick their data points but this organization shows all noses in, noses out which is extremely important when looking at what is happening at the boots on the ground level. The staff is small but mighty and always willing to lend a hand, share an idea or even participate in research opportunities. This is an organization donors can feel confident donating funds to!

Shelter Animals Count collects valuable data on animal shelters and rescues. They have very well defined data definitions to make sure the data are consistent and meaningful. They're always working to keep the burden of data entry for data reporters as low as possible by partnering with leading shelter software companies. The analytics and reports that Shelter Animals Count distributes help animal welfare professionals and communities make decisions about animal care services. I volunteer for an animal rescue and enter their data in SAC every month, my paid career is as a data engineer.

As an animal welfare advocate, research and statistics on the issues affecting shelters nationwide are important for the development of strategies to help our animals and our communities. Shelter Animals Count not only gathers data, but also shares the meaning behind that data in a manner that helps understand the problems, develop programs, and create solutions. Shelter Animals Count is a great resource in the fight against shelter pet overpopulation.
