Mission: Share partners with all members of families where there are children with special needs, supporting their efforts to establish and maintain strong and successful families.
Programs: Share provides respite care for children with special needs and their siblings. Share provides care for children with disabilities including, but not limited to children with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and muscular dystrophy. Activities are also provided for parents of children with special needs receive a respite from the constant demands of raising a child with a disability. Families enrolled in respite care come from midland, ector, crane, martin, and pecos counties. A total of 2,718 volunteer hours were contributed by 680 volunteers in 2014. The fair market value of these services totaled 63,601. Share received donated facilities from local churches valued at 46,534 in 2014.
sibshop includes a variety of programs under which siblings ages 6-17 may participate in group discussions with peers and share common joys and concerns. Adult siblings participate mentor the younger siblings. Recreational and social activities are planned so that siblings can develop friendships with other siblings in similar situations. The purpose of these activities is to build a support system for siblings who are often called the forgotten family member. Events are planned which highlight the important role of siblings in families who have children with special needs.
share supports parents who have children with special needs through a variety of ways such as grief support sessions, socials, restaurant gift certificates on wedding anniversaries or birthday, and family christmas, easter, and valentines dinners.
