Programs: Family preservation- children with severe acute malnutrition are admitted to live-in center with a caregiver/family member. 202 beneficiaries, including women and children, were admitted into smh's 6-8 week recovery program. Each caregiver received 18 hours of health education, business, literacy, and gardening. Smh's psychologist and nurses coordinated 1,150 follow-up visits with mothers and children recovering from malnutrition. The nurses met with an average of 20-25 families per week. In 2016, the sustainability program combined with the family preservation. 88 women graduates from the recovery program participated in the 48 hour business program on management, marketing, savings, and profits.

community- started a new community form called "change the village. " men and women from 13 households in the surrounding community completed 60 hours of health, nutrition, and family planning education. 26 community members received goats from smh. -continued to support medical expenses for 15 community members

maternity center- currently in the planning stages of building a community-based maternity center just 1. 8 km from our current family preservation program. The maternity center will give 170,000 individuals living in the commune of milot the opportunity to access safe births, prenatal care, family-based education, and a strong shot at life. The smh board will vote on the proposal for the maternity center.
