Mission: KidSight's mission is to prevent vision conditions and promote healthy eyesight in children. KidSight focuses on finding children with amblyopia (lazy eye) and other serious conditions that can lead to vision loss and/or blindness if treatment is not started before the age of 7.
Results: KidSight has screened over 550,000 children since its inception in the 1990's. Last year, KidSight screened over 58,000 children throughout the state of Missouri. We referred 3,800 children for possible vision disorders. KidSight's follow up program was able to contact 75% of those families (after attempting contact with 100%). 73% of children referred went on to get a full eye exam and treatment. KidSight also worked with the Missouri Optometric Association to create a list of kid-friendly doctors for every county in the state. Parents can search our online database to find doctors near them.
