Mission: Rust street ministries is a place for men, women, and children living in the san angelo area who are in need of temporary assistance with basic needs and life skills. The programs and services of rust street ministries are designed to contribute to the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of the community.
Programs: Rust street ministries provides food, clothing, furniture, appliances and other household items to those in need living in the san angelo area. Overall, in 2017 rust street ministries. . . . * helped 21,031 people and 8,289 families * distributed 181,441 pounds of food, 27,504 pounds of food donated by the food bank, 32,255 pounds of food donated by heb, 5,227 bed and bath items, 76,653 items of clothing, 8,960 kitchen items, 1,190 furniture items, 587 apppliances, and $52,415 worth of purchased food. Closet on wheels (cow) is a 30 foot trailer, mobile unit equipped with air conditioning, bath room, shower and clothes racks. The cow is taken to elementary schools, children's fairs and similar events where it is used to give away clothes. In 2017 rust street ministries helped 669 people and 145 families with 1,628 pounds of food, 1,582 items of clothing and 92 backpacks given away through its cow ministry. Also, the cow has been taken to staging centers for fire fighters at large range fires to provide them a cool place to rest and shower and to provide clothes for them. The bread trailer is a mobile unit that reaches out to those in need through a weekly bread distribution. It is used to deliver bread to the lake view recreation center every wednesday. Bread is distributed to the public in need without charge. In 2017 rust street ministries gave away 58,858 pounds of food to 6,409 people in need through the bread trailer. The garden of eden includes 38 garden plots of which 50% of what is grown goes to feed the hungry in the concho valley. In 2017, 1,533 pounds of vegetables were distributed to people in need.
