Nonprofit Overview
Mission: It is the mission of the Retail Merchants Foundation to help improve the quality of life for our citizens in need of help by providing financial assistance to local not-for-profit organizations in the Greater Lynchburg area (Lynchburg, Amherst, Bedford, Campbell County and Appomattox). This assistance is provided through annual grants with the main focus on health, hunger, housing, education, abuse and rehabilitation issues. Our approach is not a "hand out" but a "hands up" for those that are facing uncertain futures.
Results: Over the course of the last 19 years, the Retail Merchants Foundation has provided almost $3,000,000 in direct support for the non-profit agencies in our immediate service area.
Target demographics: local nonprofits provide basic human services to individuals who need assistance.

Geographic areas served: Lynchburg, Bedford, Madison Heights and Campbell County Virginia
Programs: Annual Grant Distribution for local non-profit with our main focus on hunger, health and housing. We also provide (annually) 2 high school scholarships and one teacher/classroom scholarship to provide innovative educational tools to students.
