I've supported RFC in their goal to increase College access to students in Washington DC and Prince Georges County Maryland. RFC leadership has developed a model that serves over 4000 High School students with very low overhead costs. As a frequent volunteer i've watched students grow and mature while participating in the program and I consider RFC a true asset to the students served.
Reach For College is an outstanding non-profit organization. The organization's commitment to helping high school students matriculate to secondary education is evident in the high success rate for participants in the program. I am excited for the many high school students that will benefit from the Reach For College curriculum as the organization continues to grow.
The Reach for College Program is vital to supporting the educational needs of students who are pursuing university, technical, technology, or military careers. As a former teacher, this program enabled me to better assist and expose my students to an array of post high school opportunities they would not have adequately received. The support given to both my students and myself goes beyond the horizons of academic availability. I not only support this program, but I also encourage other teachers and school communities to "chect it out!"
This organization seems top-notch. I like the periodic updates, via a newsletter and e-mail messages, of progress and accomplishments. And, the success reported is astounding. Working in an area -- helping kids navigate the process for getting into college -- with a previously dismal record, Reach For College appears to have devised a formula that works. The organization works with teachers and students alike, and must breed a truly optimistic atmosphere, because the record of helping these kids succeed is truly noteworthy. Nearly all of my annual giving goes to Reach For College. I hope they are able to continue this vital work.
I volunteered for Reach for College in Fall 2008 as a chaperone on a trip that took Washington DC high school students by chartered bus to visit George Washington University in DC. We spent the day touring the college, meeting with students and admissions administrators. We had lunch in a student-filled lunchroom. This was the first time many of the DC high school students on this college visit had gone on a college tour. Few, if any, students in our group had been to GWU in their home town. This was an exciting experience for everyone involved. I loved the opportunity to chat with DC high school students about their college and career dreams and to share the first campus visit experience. I look foward to going on future college visits with Reach for College! students.
Reach for College stands out in a world of so many wonderful non-profits. They have developed a program honed over many years that provides intormation, training and support to help underpriveledged high school students get into and succeed in college. These are kids who would otherwise be very hard-pressed to get it. The passion and experience of this group is extremely inspriing. One by one, they give kids a chance. Every dollar is used more efficiently than I have ever seen at any other organization. I have no doubt that my investment of both money and time to this organization will pay huge dividends in the lives of these young people, and thereby to the community at large.
Reach for College is an extraordinary organization. It truly fills a great need and in many ways saves lives. The concept is clear, the materials are great, and the organization operates with minimum staff, placing almost all the dollars into the program. It is run by a highly dedicated leadership who saw the need and did something about it. The program needs funds to spread the program across the US. A better investment cannot be found.
Reach For College! is a extraordinary program and it has been very beneficial to my education and life. Reach For College gives us students a real chance. The Reach For College Family has believed in me since day one and I will be forever grateful and appreciative to them. Thank You!!!
The Reach for College Curriculum at Potomac High School over the past year has made our college based advisory program extremely successful. The materials and additional resources have provided a wealth of information and educational opportunities for all grade levels. It has afforded Potomac High School students and advisors the opportunity of a lifetime!!
The RFC! program has been an invaluable storehouse of information, materials, and many other educational opportunities for my students as they prepare for their college careers. Visiting speakers and mentors have inspired them, and college tours have provided a glimpse of what awaits them. The juniors, who took the Accuplacer test, are addressing their areas of academic need in order to gear up for college-level classes. Regular visits and power-point presentations by the RFC! educator have informed students about the process of selecting a college, applying for scholarships and financial aid, and preparing for college life. Through the Saturday Academy several of my students have been exposed to cultural events, historical sites, and other educational experiences. Through meetings and workshops RFC! has assisted me as I work with my students on their resume's, application essays, and critical reading and writing skills for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. Weekly e-mail tips provide timely ideas and innovative teaching approaches. RFC! had indeed been a treasure chest for my students and for me. Nancy
Reach For College! (RFC!) has been an extraordinary partner in the Double the Numbers (DTN) initiative in Washington, DC. DTN’s goal is to create a college going culture in DC. As an organization they have been a leader in developing resources that are responsive to the needs of our students. They generously share these resources with schools. Because of the urgency surrounding the vision to have more students graduate college on time, they innovate with passion and execute with impact. Our work here in DC has been greatly helped by RFC!
Reach For College and the staff who work at RFC have made an indelible imprint in the lives of high school students from the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The curriculum is sound, the staff is supportive, and the systematic approach that they have towards education is secure. As a classroom teacher, I am so appreciative of their committment to excellence and making a difference in the lives of high school students, as it relates to their post-secondary decisions.
Reach for College is a phenomenal organization that has as its primary goal the achievement of a college education for all students. The members of the RFC staff are collaborative builders who constantly seek to broaden the network of organizations and agencies to deliver services to students. RFC has joined with parental involvement organizations in its efforts to get more parents involved in the entire college admissions process. The organization is fantastic.
Reach For College is an extraordinary organization that gives students targeted goals and provides them with the resources to accomplish them. This organization sets up students to succeed upon graduation by giving them practical and accomplish-able steps in preparing for college and ultimately preparing them for successful careers. Every school should have a program of this nature as its curriculum.
Reach for College! is one of the most efficient and cost-effective organizations I know. It provides huge gains for low-income high school students--by getting so many of them to college--at very low cost. I have been a donor for three years and am always amazed at how much they accomplish. This is an investment in young lives that I am proud of and I know will continue to yield big dividends for us all as these students complete their educations and begin to help lift up their communities.
