Mission: Parkmead elementary pta is dedicated to the continuous improvement of our childrens' education through the guidelines established by the california pta. We strive to keep parents informed about vital state and federal education issues, assist parents in developing the tools and skills of effective education advocacy, encourage individual and collective participation in the education process, and vigorously advocate on issues that are of concern to the local school community.
Programs: Parkmead elementary is a k-5 school in the walnut creek school district. We are one of five elementary schools within the district and have earned the state distinguised school award. Parkmead is unique within the walnut creek school district in that it includes both the community-based school for students within the parkmead attendance area (pcs), as well as an alternative school - parkmead active learning school (pals) - which serves students from throughout the school district. Programs supported by pta:* supporting instructional personnel* providing funds for each pcs teacher to purchase additional classroom supplies* providing grants for teachers to purchase technology* providing funds for staff development* providing grade level enrichment programs such as yellow jacket and visits by outside programs such as the lindsay wildlife museum. * providing scholarship funds for student field trips such as outdoor education* providing funds for pta related program expenses* providing educational opportunities for parents* organizing community building events for the students and families.
