Project Transition USA is a great program for transitioning veterans. They provide a network for other transitioning veterans to share information and provide encouragement. They also run a LinkedIn workshop on the MacDill Air Force base monthly that provides outstanding detail on the use of LinkedIn and on how to improve your profile. This is an outstanding organization is highly recommended for transitioning Veterans.

I am just beginning my journey to transition from the military to the civilian sector. I was not very optimistic about help I may receive as I prepare. Only a couple of weeks ago I attended the LINKEDIN workshop organized by the Project Transition USA team. They did a wonderful job explaining the power of LinkedIn in assisting with future career opportunities. Within just two weeks I have nearly doubled my network connections and more than doubled those viewing my profile. I have more confidence in my preparation and feel glad I joined the group as now I have a year to further refine my profile enhancing my opportunities before I retire. Nancy Laine, the co-founder and president of Project Transition USA, developed and runs a ground breaking LinkedIn course for transitioning service members at MacDill AFB in Tampa.
Their course is the number one recommended "optional" transition class here on base. They have cracked the code on how to effectively use LinkedIn and how to build a valuable network. I have found it very helpful in my own transition.

I attended the LinkedIN workshop in mid-March and was very impressed by how well thought out the presentation was. It was by far one of the best and most useful workshops I have ever attended. Both Nancy and Pete were sincere in their passion for the power of LinkedIN and dedication to the military community. Through the connections of Project Transition USA, I was able to network with folks working with an organization I was interviewing with. This networking proved invaluable as I was hired less than two weeks after attending the workshop!
Project Transition USA is there for transitioning Veterans and those Veterans that have already transitioned but still need help. I was one of those already out. Nancy's LinkedIn Workshop turned my good LinkedIn skills to expert LinkedIn skills beyond what I ever could have imagined. But better yet is her continuing effort to keep helping Veterans even after the workshop is over. I first learned of Project Transition USA, a local non-profit serving transitioning military and their families on board MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida, in 2013. I found the class to be incredible as I learned about the 'power' of LinkedIn and how it can ease the transition process. From the technical aspects of LinkedIn to best practices, it was all timely and relevant. Also, I found the guest speakers from prominent companies nationally who give of their time to talk about military transition, their story, or what they 'value' in their employees to be equally as powerful.
I believe in this so much that I now volunteer to help with Nancy Laine's classes and encourage transitioning military as well as their families to take the class. It has become personal for me as I am using the knowledge from this class and am growing my network to help as I prepare to transition in the next year.

Transitioning from the military is a challenging time for many service members as they look to start a new chapter in their lives. Project Transition USA is a local non-profit providing the skills and knowledge to help ease the process. Over the last several months the organization has facilitated the growth of my professional network. Project Transition USA equipped me with the tools needed for a successful interview with Tesla! Little did I know the LinkedIn class Nancy Laine, Pete Blum and their team taught on MacDill AFB back in February would prepare me for a successful interview with Tesla! They helped me set up a professional profile that caught Tesla's eye and many other companies as well. I can confidently close my military chapter and start a new one with Tesla! Thank you!!!
