Causes: Nonprofit Management
Mission: To advance a more equitable community by increasing the capacity of individuals, groups and organizations that challenge injustice.
Results: A. Now in its 10th year, the SAP Program is managed by a ‘contracted consultant’ and has awarded interim and implementation grants to 16 organizations. Based on pre and post CCAT evaluations, all participating SAP organizations improved their capacities. B. Now in its 14th year, the IS program is managed by a ‘contracted consultant’ and has served 140 organizations. In April 2014, PACE received a positive external evaluation of its Intensive Services Program from the nationally recognized consulting firm TCC Group®(TCC). An overview of the TCC evaluation is attached to this application. C. Currently in its fourth cohort the Coaching program has provided 44 individuals (36 Executive Leaders and 8 Next-Generation Leaders) with an opportunity to set and reach their professional goals. Executive and Next-Generation Leaders felt participating in the Coaching program was an experience that helped elevate their performance as a professional and for day-to-day successes. D. Inclusive Voices has been heralded as the first forum of its kind in the region. Now in its 12th year, PACE debuted its ‘powerful conversation concept’ in 2009, and has reached more than 3,500 individuals in the Pittsburgh region. The vast majority of attendees (80% >) felt they made a connection at the event that could be beneficial to them personally or professionally. E. Several PACE program participants have received noteworthy attention: i. Two PACE program participants have been competitively selected as UWSWPA Partner agencies: a. Macedonia FACE. When PACE connected with Macedonia FACE, its financial and management problems were at crisis levels. PACE assisted the board with reorganization and recruiting a new executive director. b. Western PA Diaper Bank: In 2012, Rev. and Mrs. Phillip (Cathy) Battle founded the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank (WPDB) to address the little-known and often overlooked diaper crisis. WPDB has grown from its original six partner agencies in Allegheny County, to 32 partner agencies in four western PA counties, including the United Way of Westmorland County. c. Acculturation for Justice, Access and Peace Outreach (AJAPO): A participant is several PACE programs (2009-2013), AJAPO is officially recognized and accredited by the Department of Justice to provide legal immigration services to clients. AJAPO provides reception and placement for refugees from any part of the world. AJAPO assists them to rebuild their lives and independence in our safer environment.
Target demographics: 35 to 40 small to mid-sized organizations annually, strengthen their operations and enhance their ability to effectively improve the lives of the people they serve.

Programs: Management and technical services and targeted grant support with the support of a cast of collaborators including POISE Foundation, The Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management at Robert Morris University, and a roster of over 40 expert independent consultants. Strategic action planning program - provides training, consulting assistance, and grants to support the development of strategic plans and plan implementation funds for nonprofit organizations who are led by, governed by, and serve African American communities. Intensive services program - provides group and individualized assistance to organizations serving disadvantaged communities that are seeking to operate more efficiently and effectively. The Coaching program has provided African AmericanExecutive Leaders and Next-Generation Leaders with an opportunity to set and reach their professional goals. Executive and Next-Generation Leaders felt participating in the Coaching program was an experience that helped elevate their performance as a professional and for day-to-day successes.
