Mission: To promote the growth of pope county's (minnesota) ringnecked pheasant population through conservation practices such as establishing and supporting habitat, contributing to habitat programs of other organizations, releasing pheasants onto public lands and the education of area residents and youth. We are committed to our local area, spending all of our members' contributions within the pope county, minnesota area for the restoration of the pheasant population. For the past 33 years pcpr has aggressively sought ways to restore the once plentiful pheasants.
Programs: Food and habitat were provided to pheasants and other wildlife to prepare and encourage good conservation habits as they relate to both land and wildlife in the pope county, minnesota area. Newsletters are also sent out to members updating them on conservation practices and results. The results of our activities are as follow:248 acres of wildlife food plots were grown on 85 sites. Plots are inspected in november to assure adequate wildlife food for the coming winter. ($31,327)352 pheasant feeding stations, with over 355 bushels (about 10 tons) of corn. ($1,089) several individuals also donated their own corn for use in feeders. Pcpr worked in conjunction with members and conservation groups to help establish wind breaks and tree plantings. Trees and 2,000 feet of tree matting were used as part of these projects. Tree matting has been proven to significantly boost tree survival and growth, which results in better shelter and wildlife survival. ($1,000)pcpr co-sponsored an 11th annual youth event.
