Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Civil Rights, Family Planning, Health, Reproductive Health Care, Reproductive Rights

Mission: Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona (PPSA) has served the Southern Arizona community since 1934 when Margaret Sanger established "La Clinica para Madres" in Tucson. PPSA is now Tucson's oldest non-sectarian health care provider. PPSA is a private not-for-profit agency that provides preventive health care, education, advocacy, and community outreach programs to more than 33,000 women and men each year. Eighty-nine percent of our medical clients are at or below 150% of the federal poverty level.

PPSA envisions a society transformed to foster healthy sexuality and to empower individual choice. Our mission is to empower every individual to exercise reproductive self-determination. PPSA's five clinics (four in Tucson and one in Sierra Vista) are easily accessible to our urban and rural clientele. All services and many materials are available in English and Spanish.
