Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: To provide job training and meaningful work for adults with disabilities while celebrating each person’s unique gifts, talents, and abilities.
Results: We have a team of 8 paid employees and we continue to enjoy a unique partnership with Pulley Career Center where the culinary arts students in the vocational training program make our dough for us and receive important job training in culinary arts. Our sales have exceeded to pre-pandemic levels and we have received funding from several foundations.
Target demographics: Disabled adults who are underpaid and underemployed and lack opportunities for job training and fair compensation.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 25 adults who are differently abled in the local Alexandria community
Geographic areas served: To provide job training and meaningful work for adults with disabilities that celebrates their unique talents and abilities in an inclusive environment
Programs: Job Training in baking, packaging and selling all-natural ginger treats. Life skills training in appropriate behavior, social skills, manners, money management and team building.
