Causes: Education
Mission: To nurture an active, supportive community that provides choices, opportunities, and encouragement for all children and families in ashe county to be healthy, educated, and self-reliant
Programs: Domestic violence/sexual assault intervention and awareness - provides 24-hour crisis assistance, emergency shelter for individuals and families in crisis, court advocacy and accompaniment, victim support groups, educational programs and training. During the reported year staff served 260 clients and provided 3,938 contacts to survivors with 1,008 hours of service provided.
family support - family foundations program offers support and education to parents using parents as teachers curriculum. This is a home visitation program with a group component. Triple p is also used to offer parenting support to families.
building operations - this includes daily management and operations of the building. The facility is made available for rent to other community organizations for long term or short term use. The building belongs to the county of ashe and on april 1, 2017 the county assumed the responsibility of management and operations.
child care and early education quality - activities including child care resource and referral, program elements include resource and technical assistance to child care centers and homes, trainings to enhance quality of centers and homes, training for child care educators, and a resource lending library. Raising a reader program is also implemented to encourage book sharing between parents and their children and to help grow a love for reading.
