Mission: The mission of Partners for Pediatric Vision is to turn possibilities into achievements for children with visual impairment and their families. We envision a world where all children with visual impairment have equal access to the healthcare, education and support they need to be successful in life.
Results: Serving Southern California with a focus on Los Angeles County, PPV’s free services uniquely match Child & Family Vision Specialists with blind or visually impaired children (from birth through age 18) and their families to provide in-depth education, support, resources, low vision devices, and care coordination to accommodate for challenges at the soonest point possible, minimizing further vision loss or learning issues. We are a recognized leader in the low vision community. PPV received the prestigious 2024 Braille Institute’s Community Hero Award, and maintains partnerships with 50+ professionals and organizations across greater Los Angeles, with 65% of the 550 patients served annually residing in LA County. Of the children we serve, 75% have multiple disabilities, 78% qualify as low, very low or extremely low-income per HUD guidelines. Families seek our services or are referred by specialists because we are known for our expertise in helping children with complex diagnoses and challenges. Here are a few highlights from our annual evaluation surveys: -- 90% of families reported that their child benefited from adaptations that took into account vision loss -- 92% of families reported more optimism about their child’s overall quality of life -- 94% of families have a better understanding of their child’s vision and can explain it to others -- 92% of families agreed that they feel more empowered to advocate for their child -- 92% of families reported less stress associated with raising a child with vision loss
