I have been a huge supporter of Outreach for years. Aside from serving on the Board, Outreach helped my daughter many years ago. She experienced a traumatic event that caused her to have panic attacks and high anxiety. She was terrified to go to school, would not be able to get through a day without having to go the nurse or the school counselor. The counselors at Outreach were kind and understanding with my daughter and helped her work through this event. They taught her coping mechanisms that she still utilizes today. It took a few years to help her through the event and we could never have helped her on our own, without their help.

The various programs of evaluation, therapy and preventative care has helped me as a parent to navigate issues faced with raising a child. As a board member of almost 5 years, I can honestly say that this is a great organization to be a part of. I wouldn't be here if I didn't think that. For everything we do and consider doing, the question always asked is "is this in the best interest of our clients?". The employees and volunteers all do what we do because we care about mental health and trying to assure that kids can grow up with the help they need to be mentally healthy.

Outreach has been an integral part of our South Hills community for over 40 years. The support offered to youth and families is unique to our area. Individual counseling sessions, parenting classes, mental health information provided in HS health classes, screenings for suicide prevention, etc -- and all are offered at free or very reduced rates. My family used quite a few of the services over the years as my kids grew and now I am giving back by volunteering on the board. I wish more families (and not just those in the South Hills!) were aware of the services that are available. Outreach is a valuable resource that can make a huge difference in the lives of kids and their families.

As a teacher, I have seen so many of my students get help at Outreach Teen and Family Services. Their parenting classes, TeenScreen, and individual counseling sessions have allowed many of my students whose struggles have become overwhelming to cope and to flourish. I feel very grateful that the kids and families in our area have such an outstanding resource. Mental health is a challenge for an increasing number of young people who find themselves facing stress, anxiety, and depression. Knowing that caring professionals are there to help them is invaluable.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a board member, I cannot say enough about how important Outreach is to our community. I have had my LPC for 10 years, and have served on Outreach's board for 2 years. The teenage years area critical in addressing mental health problems. According to the World Health Organization, mental disorders are the single most common cause of disability in young people. With Outreach's experienced counselors and passionate board members, backed up by supportive community leaders, this organization is vital to supporting young children and families around mental health diagnoses/struggles.
Outreach is a wonderful and valuable part of our community. The services that the organizations provides to teens and their families are top notch. I have known about the agency for many years, however being a board member and witnessing how much they do on a modest budget is nothing short of amazing! The staff members are excellent and they are constantly searching for new and innovative ways to serve teens and their families. Most people that I mention the organization to agree that it is a wonderful treasure!
I have been on the board For Outreach for several years. Why? I feel passionately about the mission of this service.....promoting empathetic, personal, accessible and affordable counseling and wellness programs for children and families. The main thrust has been teenagers...a pivot age. Leadership is strong, finances well managed and mission is the driving force. I have been privileged to serve.
As a relatively new board member, I learned very quickly how dedicated the entire staff is to their mission and to continuous improvement. Outreach provides a critical service to its community and is a treasure. I only wish that more knew about the resource available to teens and their families through Outreach. As a confidential place to turn, tens have an available shelter where they can work through hard times and difficult circumstances.
As a member of the board I am continually impressed with the dedication of staff and the level of service provided by Outreach Teen and Family Services. I especially appreciate the Teen Screen effort aimed at early identification of students in possible need.
I am just about to leave the board after serving for six years – three on the executive and two as president. Outreach has tremendous impact in our community. We partner with police, juvenile justice, and schools to help young people and families manage all levels of mental health. What isn't appropriate for our agency is referred elsewhere. But Outreach is an accessible and safe first step for many. It has been an honor to work with this group of people. I'm so glad to know the resource is here for those who need it!

I've been a board member for Outreach since 2012 and the board president for the last two years. Our motto is counseling, care, connection--which came out of a recent strategic planning process. The organization works hard to ensure that from the moment a client or parent first calls for help or guidance, to every touch point along the way, they know they have a caring person who is on their side. We hope that our educational efforts in the community and screening tools in schools help families in the same way. It's been an honor to be a part of this organization.
Outreach Teen & Family Services is a very valuable resource in our community of Mt. Lebanon and the greater South Hills area of Pittsburgh. They helped us deal with issues our child was having by counseling both our child and us. With Outreach's guidance we navigated our situation to a very positive outcome.
Outreach Teen & Family Services has been a terrific resource for our family as we navigate the difficult waters of raising our teens. Adolescent years can be challenging as our young people are diverse in their experiences, problems and development issues. It’s comforting to have the breadth of experience that Outreach has to offer at your disposal to meet these challenges. At the end of the day it’s all about people. They have put together a team of professionals with the education, experience and mindset to understand and help manage our needs. We are very comfortable with this organization and the people we’re working with to provide the support we require to handle our family situation.
Over the course of my ten year career with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department (MLPD), I have had numerous opportunities to work with Outreach, a superb non-profit organization that works to educate, counsel and improve the lives of young people and their families.
Most recently, while serving as a Detective, I had the opportunity to meet with the professional staff at Outreach and actually see the positive impact Outreach has in improving the lives of many of Mt. Lebanon’s kids.
Additionally, over the past three years, I was able to refer several teens and/or their families to one of many of the programs that Outreach has to offer. Some of these included: the Community-based Counseling for Teens, the Magistrate’s Alternative Sentencing for Teens (MAST) or the Outreach Junior Fire Setters Program.
After completing these programs, many of these teens and their families provided me with positive feedback on the professionalism of Outreach’s staff and the quality of their programs.
Overall, as a public safety professional, I am very impressed with the highly qualified staff at Outreach, as well as, the quality of their programs and the positive impact it has had on the families of Mt. Lebanon. Keep up the good work!

Outreach Teen and Family Services is a GEM! I love this organization for it's ability to make it simple and efficient for kids and families to get support quickly for the various challenges that show up as we all(kids and families) navigate the 'growing up years.' It's simple to get connected with one of our brilliant counselors....there's no barriers to break down to get the help needed when it is needed! There's a lot of proactive compents to Outreach which I firmly believe enhance lives greatly and in certain cases, prevent a minor obstacle along the path from turning into something more harmful. Challenging cases are also handled wonderfully and in partnership with those who can best serve the person. Outreach makes a very real difference!
