Causes: Food, Soup Kitchens
Mission: Mission is to provide tangible signs of love in the piedmont triad of nc so that no children go to bed hungry. Nourishing childrens minds and bodies with food and hope for every child. Three main programs including 1-operation backpack, providing bags of food to 1250+ school children and families each weekend. 2- mobile food pantry, providing additional food to 2500+ individuals monthly. 3- a feeding enrichment center where breakfast and lunch is served throughout the summer and an after school program two days each week during the school year for homework and added nutrition for students.
Programs: In just over 6 years after serving its first hungry child, out of the garden project has grown to become the largest charity in the piedmont triad of north carolina, providing more than 15,000 meals each week to children and families in need through their operation backpack (backpack program), fresh mobile markets (currently 22 locations each month), feeding enrichment site (providing nourishment for childrens minds and bodies each summer, and their newest program their food reclamation initiative. Ootgp has an impact on nearly half of the 127 schools in guilford county and 1 in forsyth county and 1 in alamance county. Ootgp distributed more than a million pounds of food in 2014.
