Mission: Providing program support to volunteer medical teams which will provide free surgical treatment to patients with disabling arthritis or other debilitating bone and joint conditions in developing countries and the united states. The organization will provide orthopedic-related education and information programs to patients, physicians, health care providers and the general public in developing countries and the united states.
Programs: The 8 day mission to ghana resulted in a medical mission team of 38 health care providers performing a total of 62 joint replacements on 57 patients. In addition to performing the surgical procedures, the operation walk team members provided education to local physicians, nurses and physical therapists. Educational material included both the most current evidence-based practice/surgical techniques as well as information to facilitate care of these patients after the team's departure.
