Mission: The ogden foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the las vegas and henderson area that was founded by football hall of famer jonathan ogden and his wife kema ogden and established in 2008, born out of a need to help the underserved population in southern nevada. Our mission is to provide homeless, foster and at-risk youths, as well as underserved families, with programs and services that support families, unite communities and promote healthy lifestyles. We believe health is a full circle and cannot be complete without having a healthy body, healthy mind and healthy spirit. In order to provide this increased level of care, the ogden foundation has partnered with community outreach medical center and created a fully integrated health program. This allows us to incorporate a variety of health services within our programs. We continue to search for new paths to empower others.
Programs: Caamp ogden clubwe provide the caamp ogden club to 4th and 5th grade participants at robert taylor elementary school with a new book each month. This has also previously been offered at jim thorpe elementary (for their 4th and 5th grade students) and west preparatory academy (for their 6th-8th grade students). We provide comprehension exercises that allow the children to improve their literacy, communication, and social skills. The teachers at robert taylor and west prep provide us with progress reports each month. The students are able to participate in our weekly after school programs such as health/nutrition awareness, obesity prevention, physical fitness education, life/social skills, anti-bullying, boxing/kickboxing classes and enrichment activities. The program benefits about 40 children.
f. I. T. For a fighting chancewe have a year-round fitness program, called "fit for a fighting chance" for homeless, foster, and at-risk youths from organizations such as st. Jude's, hope link, safe nest, family promise, clark county department of family services and nevada partnership for homeless youth. This is a year-round program where once a week children participate in cardio boxing workouts and a nutrition/wellness workshop. Combining behavior health with physical fitness and nutrition helps the children to become well-rounded, confident and healthy individuals. We provide them with gloves, wraps, and all other equipment necessary for the classes. They are also given a healthy snack and bottled water at the end of each session. The program is held at ufc gym which is one of our community partners. The program benefits about 18 children.
summer camp and youth football campas an extension of our f. I. T. Program (f. I. T. For a fighting chance), we have an eight (8) week fitness and wellness summer camp, which is held at ufc gym, where we continue to work with children from organizations such as st. Jude's, hope link, safe nest, family promise, clark county department of family services and nevada partnership for homeless youth. We provide them with an hour and a half program once a week teaching them self discipline, building self esteem and helping them to make healthy life choices, while at the same time learning different physical fitness techniques. We also provide a youth football camp (in conjunction with our ogden celebrity bowl). We work on reinforcing basic football fundamentals and provide health and wellness education, while maintaining a fun and safe environment. This camp is provided to children from 8-14 with the community including foster, homeless, and at-risk youth from the same above organizations.
