well water loans: through usda rural development, nemah is able to provide low interest loans to qualifying families in need of a new water well or repairs/replacement of their existing water well. The program, referred to as hwws (household water well system), provides nemah with grant income to hire well drillers to perform the needed services. The qualifying applicants then repay the loan at a 1% interest rate to nemah. As the funds are received by nemah, they may then provide the same service to other families by means of this revolving loan fund. The total amount nemah may receive from usda rural development is 404,000, which must be used by september 30, 2009. However, the revolving loan program can continue until the funds are eventually exhausted.
home buyer programs: as an agent of the michigan state housing development authority, nemah provides ownership opportunities through loan programs for qualifying applicants which enables lower income families to purchase a home that is both safe and affordable.
home owner rehabilitation: through various counties in the servicing area, nemah is able to obtain funds to rehabilitate existing homes to enable residents to have the repairs that they otherwise would be unable to afford done to their home to make it a safe living environment.
