Care is provided without charge or at amounts less than established rates to patients who meet certain criteria under the hospital's charity care policy. Because the organization does not collect amounts deemed to be charity care, the amounts are not reported as revenue. Of the organization's total health care services expense reported, an estimated $123,000 (at cost) arose from providing services to charity patients during the year ended december 31, 2017.
