Unfortunately, this place has gone over to the strange and volatile. I have been down here for the functions and amenities, and without fail there is one staff member that is causing problems for the members. This is a problem as low attendance has lead the structure as well as the machines to disrepair and the pool has not been cleaned since 2019. They close it for cleaning, yes, but nothing actually happens. The locker rooms are ... laden with issues and a few choice staff enjoy speaking badly about their gym goers behind backs (just stand outside their office door during meetings). I have even witnessed a 300lb balding wagee down there MFing a teenager over idk what but the only one out of hand that I saw was the middle aged fat guy. idk. Just find somewhere else to go. Do NOT trust this place with your kids either. I don't even want to go into what I hear there. just crazy. they need to close down. fire everyone. and rehire new post remodel. but i doubt that will happen since they aren't really a busy place to start with. oh well.
I am a life long member of the New Castle YMCA. My father took us all to Family night as children, which lead to myself and 2 sisters swimming on the swim team all through high school. It was our second home. I truly did not realize the positive impact the Y and its staff had on my life until I reflected back as an adult. I now serve as a volunteer. Today, I know there are kids in our community that feel this Y is their safe place. It is my hope that they too will look back and be thankful to our Y for how it benefited them, and then want to give back!
The YMCA has been a part of this community for nearly 150 years and continues to make a positive impact on the kids and families of our community. The Y provides programs and services for all ages, incomes and backgrounds. What a wonderful organization with a Mission of making people's lives better.
I have been a member of the New castle Community Y for 22 years and this organization has done so many wonderful things for the community. It is involved with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters programs, the Lawrence County Schools, Cray Youth and Family Service, and more. The Y has helped so many children, adults and families be members, regardless of their ability to afford the rates, and provided them with programs that promote healthy living and youth development,. It is an asset to the community!
