Mission: The national association of women's gymnastics judges (nawgj) provides professional development for its members and supports and promotes women's gymnastics in the united states. Nawgj works at the local, state, regional and national levels of the united states functioning as a service organization to the entire gymnastics community. Nawgjs main goals are to teach and train its members thereby promoting judging excellence, disseminating judging information, assigning officials to competitions and promoting and supporting interest in the sport of gymnastics
Programs: 2016-17 actions and activitiesthe total membership is the highest it has ever been but seems to be leveling off at 2250. Through our many clinics and sharing of judging materials, we continue to stress the importance of maintaining a high level of judging expertise and professional behavior. We conduct a workshop annually for the state directors in order to increase the consistent application of our national organizational goals and improve communication. It is also our goal to continually bring new judges into the sport. Our president is a member of the advisory council for usa gymnastics and is invited annually to the meeting of the junior olympic committee's planning meeting. She also is invited to present at the annual ncaa gymnastics coaches convention and works with the coaches to improve the judging of their events. Nawgj national symposium is held every 4 years for all of the members. This is normally held the year after the required testing cycle begins and, therefore, our next one is scheduled for july, 2019 in fort worth, texas. Although providing educational and professional learning experiences for our members is our main goal, most of our state committees serve as the assigning group for meets conducted by usa gymnastics, aau, ncaa, ymca, usaigc (independent clubs), high schools, and the college club programs. When requested, the state and regional committees provide volunteer personnel for many meets.
