Mission: To conduct a school to provide course of study in the liberal arts, the performing arts, in the social and physical sciences, in the vocational arts and skills and in the physical education; further, to provide such courses of study and to carry on such activities so as to maintain the tranquility and beauty of martha's vineyard and a balance of commercial, residential and open space uses; and further, to award the degree of bachelor arts/bachelor of science in new england studies to those students who have satisfactorily completed the prescribed course of study, provided that no part of the schools activities will be legislative in nature and that there will be no inurement to members of the corporation or any other activities in violation of section 501(c)3 of the internal revenue code of the united states.
