This program helped me get a lot of information about different STEM jobs and careers that I might be interested in. I’m now a senior in high school and finally decided what career I wanted to choose. Through the program I made life long friends and got to participate in many activities and field trips. I definitely recommend this for any student who wants to feel included in this amazing program !
MSKSI, planting seeds of grateness in the minds of our young girls. I had taking interest in MSKSI from afar. After attending an event last December with my granddaughter. I was more than eager to have my granddaughter join the organization. She was a little skeptical, but with some nudging from grandma she decided to give it a try. This is our first year and my granddaughter likes the program - her words. She is shy, however; after attending, ‘School of Awake’ even though virtual, I have noticed her begin to be more open in expressing her ideas and thoughts. Wearing color to express her mood.
Learning the fundamentals of coding really got her attention, she now plays around with it, and is eager to learn more about coding. She has been inspired!
We are so looking forward to more workshops and events.
To the ladies, (aka aunties) Ms Newsom and the entire staff, I thank you for your caring enough to bring this program to our girls. Taking the time, sharing your talents and education, giving water to those seeds and watch them blossom into beautiful flowers.
The program is awesome and very much needed in inspiring, and developing young girls in ‘STEAM, fields that they may otherwise shy away from.
I Thank you! ❤️
This is an excellent program. Leadership is very important to success. My daughters experiece with MSKSI has been one of being embraced, nurtured, taught, mentored and immersed.
The leaders of the program insist on being on one accord and keeping drama out of the environment. This allows the young ladies to make the main thing the main thing by thriving in relationships and STEAM.
I highly recommend.
MSKSI is a great program! I have been a guest at a few of their events and have heard several of the girl’s stories. I wish this type of program was available when I was younger. Thank you MSKSI. Please keep up the good work. The girls need you and I have seen positive outcomes from your interaction with them.
I have always been i a really shy person and never really tried things outside my emdiate interests. But one day my mom took me to one of MSKSI´s events and it was amazing. As soon as i got there all the other girls were so welcoming and nice. We all became instant friends. While being in the program i have learned to do things that i never thought i would ever be able to do. I even got comfortable with public speaking, which is something i never thought i would ever over come. I also always avioded math and science since it hadnt spiked my interest, but MSKSI has shown me that its actually really and very smart to be familar with. I have pratsipated in many of their events and all of them have been very beifcnical and fun. MSKSI provides so many awsome opportunites for girls that will only help their future. I am proud to say that i am apart of MSKSI and will always remember them and how much they helped further my future and prawden my horizons.
My Sister's Keeper Success Institute is a program that inspires young women of color to become the critical thinkers and problem solvers that we need in a technology age. The program focuses on STEM and STEAM career exploration, engages the support of mentors, and also focuses on the whole girl through personal growth programs.
I have been a part of this program since it began in 2017, and have seen the lives of young women transform as a result of it. The team at MSKSI genuinely cares about advocating for and supporting young women of color to realize their best and most brilliant selves. I would strongly recommend this program to any parent or person who has a young woman between the ages of 10 and 17 in need of career mentorship in a supportive community of women.
Working at My Sisters Keeper Success Institute this year has been a wonderful experience first hand. Getting the opportunity to mentor young Black women and help them discover their power and access to success has been like no other. The impact this non-profit has for the new generation is everlasting. I am proud of where we have been, and excited for where MSKSI is going.
It is a beautiful sight to see a group SO PASSIONATE about mentoring young ladies! Very refreshing and SO needed!!
Since joining MSKSI my daughter has had her eyes open to whole new worlds she’s never thought about. She now has a more understanding and confidence that she can be anything, and seeing women who look like her in these career fields brings it all into perspective. Learning new pathways in STEAM has broadened her horizons, she now knows more about what the world has to offer for women of color.
The ladies at MSKSI are so loving and strong, they even inspire me. They really put their heart and soul into every girl so they know the can be successful, all while building self esteem and strong with ethics. This program is a blessing and is needed more than people know.
MSKSI has been a great experience for my daughter. It has helped in areas of self care and empowerment through safe space conversations about feelings, school and life; professional development through stem activities and careers in stem.
MSKSI, Inc has been a tremendous blessing to my granddaughter Bree. At 10 years of age and now 11 years old, they have exposed her to other young girls who desire to achieve great things in their lives. She has been exposed to women in leadership across STEAM. She was exposed to a leadership team within MSKSI, Inc who encouraged, promoted her strengths; and gave her opportunity to see herself excel among her peers and see her confidence increase in expressing her voice. As a grandmother, I am thankful for a program that targets young girls and STEAM. A big thank you to it’s founder, Mrs. Kristen Newsome and the great team of women leaders involved to make this a great resource for educating and building up our young girls.
I have been searching for a program for African American girls, that broadens there horizons to various STEAM career opportunities. My daughter has only been in the program for a year, but in that short time she has created a sisterhood with the other girls, a love for the program, and a profound curiosity for STEAM careers.
