Yes I am the co-founder, so I am a little biased. I have put my heart and soul into The Mustard Seed. We started from nothing and have worked to help families achieve their dream of sending their children to Catholic elementary schools.
The Board of Directors is one of the most dedicated groups I have worked with in the nonprofit world. It is predominantly represented by professionals from the educational space, and by people with a passionate and knowledgeable commitment to the sound education of children. This dedication ties in very strongly with the mission of the Mustard Seed Foundation.
As part of the Mustard Seed Board we are able to help families provide a solid, faith based educational experience for their child. We work year round to fundraise to support the cause of making Catholic education attainable. Our mission is simple, provide financial resources for parents to have a choice in their child's education in a Catholic school when other options are not available to them. Having the ability to positively affect the lives of parents and their students is extremely fulfilling and is a driving force of what we do as a board in our community.
I have been involved in Mustard Seed for the past several years. The good work that is being done for single parent families to keep their children enrolled in Catholic education is outstanding. Ministering to those that are in the margins provides the great gift of education. Toledo is better as a community because we have those that are provided a high quality faith based education.
I have the honor and privilege to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Mustard Seed Education Foundation, I was blessed with parents that sacrificed so much, so I could receive 12 years of Catholic Education. I would not be the person I am today without Catholic Education. I am so blessed to be part of this organization that helps families receive the gift of Catholic Education in grade schools. As a volunteer for this organization, I am able to pay this gift forward.
The Mustard Seed Education Foundation supports one of the most critical decisions parents make for their children- where to educate them. Since children spend so many of their hours at school, their school can play a significant role in shaping them as a person.
The right school will not only teach them core subjects like math, science or English — it will also instill the Catholic Virtues and values like teamwork, personal responsibility, compassion and more. Catholic schools are an ideal choice for families who want to invest in their children’s education and further help them become their best selves, leading them to God.
For many families, this comes at a great cost and can be a financial burden. The Mustard Seed Education Foundation recognizes this, helping to alleviate this important and valued investment into children- the future of The Church.
