Back in the summer of 2009 MSL helped guide my friend and I towards setting up a blood drive at our local school. It had turned out pretty well and were able to register around 30 new blood donors with the Red Cross. Music Saves Lives gave incentive for a younger audience to come and participate actively within the community by giving away special passes or 'meet and greets' at local shows. This sparked a lot of new volunteer opportunities and as well brought in first time blood donors that would otherwise not have gone in and donated. MSL also talks about other charities and organizations that need help as well; by supporting the music scene, the scene supports MSL as well.
I've known the founder of Music Saves Lives (Russel Hornbeek) for over a decade and have always found him to have good character and integrity. Those same qualities apply deeply to the nonprofit he has built. I wholeheartedly support him.
Music Saves Lives does an awesome job of connecting people to important causes. MSL gives everyday people a chance to do something great for others, either by donating blood or signing up for the marrow registry, and in return they receive fantastic opportunities to become closer to the music scene. It's such a simple concept to take something that everybody loves - music - and to use it in a way that really helps people in need. How can anybody NOT want to be part of Music Saves Lives?
I believe that Music Saves Lives is doing a tremendous service. They are helping a younger generation connect music & entertainment and important life-saving causes. I know that I was not willing to donate blood before, but afterwords considered it so that i could receive a V.I.P. pass at for Vans Warped Tour.
Music Saves Lives is an awesome charity. I really like the fact that they reach out to a younger generation and they do it through something that is SO important to SO many.....MUSIC.
This is one of the greatest ideas ever to help generate donors for blood and marrow. Great philosophy to get people to donate for music.
