Mission: Movimiento’s mission is to nourish a youth movement for learning and social change through local agriculture, social entrepreneurship, indigenous youth initiatives, and international solidarity work. Movimiento helps young people explore and connect with nature, meaningful work, indigenous ways, love of learning, community, self-inquiry, leadership, and rites of passage.
Results: A newly emerging land-based learning center on the California coast; Five international service learning trips; Several youth-run businesses, including a Youth-Organized Sustainable Agriculture Project and Movimiento Foods; Indigenous Youth Initiatives and cultural exchange trips; Four films; Four Young Revolutionaries calendars
Target demographics: Young people ages 14-24 from many different cultural, socioeconomic, geographical, and educational backgrounds.

Geographic areas served: Northern New Mexico, Bay Area in California
Programs: Movimiento currently operates several program areas for young people:1) Local organic agriculture: youth earn a living wage while learning sustainable food production and re-connecting to the agricultural traditions of this region.2) Entrepreneurship: youth start and run small businesses, including a value-added food products business (using the vegetables grown in our agriculture program) and a clothing business featuring youth artwork.3) International service learning trips: Movimiento youth travel internationally to exchange ideas with youth in other communities around the world. Past trips have included Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and El Salvador. On these trips, Movimiento youth have built housing, founded a school, worked on sustainable agriculture projects, and studied the socio-economic and political history of the host communities.4) Indigenous Youth Initiative: Native youth cultural exchanges, trips, and support groups. IYI recently returned from a transformational cultural exchange trip to the Alutiiq village of Old Harbor, on Kodiak Island, Alaska.4) Bioneers involvement: Movimiento has led groups of youth to three Bioneers conferences and has had a youth team present at the New Mexico Bioneers Satellite Conference.5) Youth Revolutionaries Calendar: a yearly calendar that features 24 outstanding young people in northern New Mexico.
