Programs: School program: siskin children's institute operates a preschool center in chattanooga where children with and without disabilities learn together in an inclusive environment. At the siskin early learning center, comprehensive teams of teachers, specialized therapists and other professionals serve children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. The siskin early learning center continually receives distinguished recognitions, such as the highest rating possible from the tennessee department of human services and accreditation from the national association for the education of young children (naeyc). This program benefited 169 individuals.
research program: siskin's children's institute advances the fields of early childhood development and special education with its research center. Opended in 2008, the siskin center for child and family research - led by robin mcwilliam, ph. D, whose concepts and procedures are practiced internationally - is staffed by three doctoral-level researchers who conduct applied research with the institute's preschools and other settings outside the institute. The center's goal is to discover significant information about children's development and functioning to improve engagement, independence and social relationships. The research center disseminates its findings to educators, higher education institutions, social agencies, advocacy groups and government agencies locally and worldwide. The center has established collaborative partnerships with vanderbilt university, the university of florida, the university of tennessee at chattanooga and middle tennessee state university. This program benefited 973 individuals.
