Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Education
Mission: To provide education honoring the pedagogical principles of Dr. Maria Montessori by offering AMI Montessori teacher education, professional development, parent education, and community outreach for the benefit of children throughout the world.
Results: The 2012-2013 academic year marks the first AMI Elementary training course of its kind on the west coast. Thanks to our fundraising efforts, the Institute moved into our new facilities near downtown Portland to accommodate all three levels of training under one roof and supported the hiring of new trainers and staff for this purpose.
Geographic areas served: Our students come from around the world to study at MINW.
Programs: AMI Teacher training at the Assistants to Infancy (0-3), Primary (3-6) and Elementary (6-12) levels. Professional development workshops, seminars and outreach through the Montessori to Go program. Parent education classes and community outreach to neighborhood groups, schools and communities.
