Causes: Family Services for Adolescent Parents
Mission: Mommies in the D's mission is to empower young mothers to achieve personal and parenting goals by establishing growth-centered environments and constructive collaborations that support personalized social, economic, and emotional development.
Results: Since its founding in 2017, Mommies in the D (MITD) has helped 455 young mothers aged 14-22 in Wayne County support their knowledge on prenatal, postnatal, mental health and financial literacy topics, provide them access to partners, support family unique needs, provide kindergarten readiness support to young mothers. In 2014, Marketia worked in education with students from Osborn High School. Some of the young women she supported went from speaking about their dreams of the future to being scared because they found out they were pregnant.
