Mission: The mission of the mississippi society of certified public accountants is to serve as the state advocate for certified public accountants working or residing principally in the state of mississippi and to provide its members with resources, education, information and leadership so that they may act in the highest ethical and professional manner for the benefit of clients, employers, and the public.
Programs: The organization conducted continuing professional education courses during the year. The courses provide educational opportunities for the members and other accountants that allow them to maintain a high level of technical proficiency and meet the continuing education requirements of the profession.
the organization holds an annual convention for its members. The convention includes meetings with speakers on topics of current interest to the profession and continuing education courses. The annual business meeting of the organization is also held at the convention.
the mscpa administers the peer review program in mississippi and serves as a resource for mississippi firms enrolled in the program. Under the program, each cpa firm with an auditing practice is required to undergo a system review every three years. Each firm that performs compilations and/or reviews is also required to undergo an engagement and/or report review every three years. The mscpa will assist members as they prepare for peer review. Educational seminars are offered periodically in the state to train members to conduct reviews.
