Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: To plan and hold conferences supported by multiple disability advocacy and service agencies in mississippi, to seek and receive financial support for said conferences by recruiting sponsors, exhibitors, and participants; to provide information in a common setting to individuals with disabilities, family members, and professionals who advocate and serve individuals with disabilities; to provide stipends as possible to enable self advocates and family members to attend the conference; and to cooperate with public and private groups, agencies, or organizations in the furtherance of these ends.
Programs: The 2013 mississippi disability megconference had approximately 550 attendees over the course of the day and a half event. The conference featured several plenary sessions and twenty break-out sessions. Topics included a wide variety of subjects regarding issues, rights, and resources available to individuals with disabilities. Continuing education credit was granted for a number of disciplines. There were also approximately 30 exhibitors/vendors who provided information to attendees.
