Mission: The mission of the mississippi dental association foundation is to improve the oral health of all mississippians by supporting the dental profession and its efforts to meet community needs.
Programs: The foundation organizes, promotes and funds a free dental clinic at least every two years. This two-day clinic is provided on a first come first served basis to any mississippian who presents to the clinic in need of dental pain relief or assistance with tooth restorations. Volunteer dentists, dental team members and community voluteers donate their skills and time to work the clinic. The foundation raises funding for the clinic by soliciting grants along with corporate and private donations. These funds are utilized to rent the equipment and purchase the supplies needed to provide the treatment. Dental supplies and food for volunteers and patients is also provided during the clinic. The funding also covers contracting a part-time individual to plan and organize the clinic. The foundation is also organized to support other dental projects that would promote or provide oral health care and education to citizens throughout the state of mississippi. The mississippi dental association organized the foundation specifically for those purposes.
