Mission: MHVS was founded in 1994 by Rae Schlecht to bring awareness to the Mid Hudson Valley about the nutritional, wellness and environmental benefits of the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. With almost two hundred members, MHVS provides information, sponsors education programs, addresses the needs and concerns of vegetarians/vegans and most importantly, has created a "place" for vegetarians/vegans (or those just interested in vegetarianism/veganism) to go to for support and to exchange experiences, ideas and opinions.
