Ian F.

September 2018

I first came into Meridians recovery in early 2015. I had been arrested for drug charges the week before and was able to make arrangements for a bed at Jim Gross's recovery home. He, in fact, was the one to pick me up from jail. This is just a small demonstration of the service work that Jim has given to me. Jim has not only been there for all my successes, but all my struggles as well. He has been a true mentor and friend through my whole sobriety, giving me advice on everything from working out and weight lifting to relationship problems and family issues. Without him and the Meridians house, I wouldn't have the strong foundation that I currently have. That house was more than just a roof over my head. It became a home, a place where I could feel safe and supported no matter what happened. His peer to peer recovery system made me feel like I was part of a family, like I could depend on the people around me. I felt like I was contributing to the community I lived in. Jim has always believed in me and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the amazing place where I learned I could live a happy life, clean and sober.
