Mission: The meridian food bank's mission is to provide emergency food aid to low income people primarily in the areas in and around meridian, idaho.
Programs: We provide food baskets to our neighbors who seek emergency food assistance. As meridian has grown and our economy has faced challenges, the number of people seeking our help has risen dramatically. In 2017 we distributed 19,577 food baskets serving 51,603 individuals with 1,067,974 pounds of food.
the meridian food bank partners with the youth group of valley shepherd church of the nazarene to provide children in the free and reduced lunch program from the meridian school district with backpacks of food. Each backpack contains six meals and two snacks for the weekend. Backpacks with food are delivered by volunteers to predetermined schools on fridays, and the empty backpacks are returned to the schools on mondays to be refilled. In 2017 18,386 food packs were delivered to over 600 children on a weekly basis.
