Mission: We, mercy health services-iowa and trinity health, serve together in the spirit of the gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities. Mercy healthcare foundation - clinton is a member of mercy health services-iowa and trinity health.
Programs: The focus of mercy healthcare foundation - clinton (the foundation) is to help the medical center provide the highest quality of care, in the safest environment to our patients, residents, their families and guests, and to achieve the best possible care experience. Gifts to the foundation are used to establish or enhance programs, improve or build facilities and purchase equipment that would otherwise be unavailable due to budget constraints. Fundraising proceeds from the foundation's events this year help to offset the cost of a new linear accelerator. The average life of a linear accelerator is 7-10 years and the current one is going on 12 years old. Repair costs have escalated in recent years, causing more down-time. Newer technology offers different arrays of energies and beams to focus on tumors so the dynamics of the treatments are increased. On newer machines the radiation beam is more specific to the tumor, causing less damage to surrounding tissue. Also newer machines are able to treat deeper tumors. Having more treatment options available allows cancer patients to be treated closer to home instead of traveling over 90 miles away. The current unit treats 17-18 patients each day. $22,546 in scholarships was awarded during the fiscal year to those pursuing education in health care fields.
