Mission: Our mission is to work for america's mental health and for victory over mental illnesses, through advocacy, education, and community services.
Programs: Mental health america strives to be the roanoke valley's primary resource for information and education regarding mental health, mental illnesses, and available treatments. We work to dispel the stigma attached to mental illnesses and spread the message that effective treatment of mental health problems will ultimately decrease the direct and indirect costs of healthcare to workplaces and society in general, increase employment and productivity and reduce human suffering for individuals and their families.
the focus on families and children program umbrella includes a variety of activities which provide children and their caregivers with skills to cope with the family, school, social, mental health, and financial stresses they face.
the roanoke valley mental health care collaborative provides free metnal health assessments, counseling services, psychiatry/medication management, medications, and disease self-management skills to adults with mental illnesses who: are residents of the roanoke valley, have limited financial resources, have no health insurance coverage or inadequate coverage for mental health care, and are ineligible for mental health treatment through any other system of care available in the community.
