Mission: Mater dolorosa is a passionist retreat center offering spiritual retreat based on the passion of jesus and its relevance in our lives today. The retreat center is open to all who seek spiritual renewal in a peaceful environment of prayer and reflection.
Programs: Mater dolorosa hosted 38 weekend retreats which were either passionist preached or passionist sponsored. During these weekend retreats approximately 3000 retreatants were served. In 2017 special day of reflection programs (spiritual guide series) were offered on sunday afternoons during lent and served approximately 50 people. Mater dolorosa extended ministry offerings to young adults by offering a weekend retreat (70 attended) and several days of reflection (150 attended). Mater dolorosa launched an hispanic ministry program to reach the spanish speaking community (2 weekend retreats, las posadas and several evenings of recollection) (approximately 350 people attended these programs. ) mater dolorosa provided housing and hospitality for 123 hosted programs during this fiscal year. These single to multi-day programs are conducted by the group using the facility and are available to other non-profit entities such as churches and schools. Approximately 5,000 individuals were served during these hosted programs. During lent each year, mater dolorosa hosts approximately 30 parish and other groups (est. 750 people), who wish to make the way of the cross. Mater dolorosa opens its grounds on good friday to accomodate the public who come to pray at the stations of the cross. In 2017, approximately 3,500 people came during the open hours in the morning and evening. During times when it isn't occupied with retreat groups, mater dolorosa is open to individuals who wish to come to the center for personal prayer.
