Mission: Founded in 1998, Marine Research & Education was established with an understanding that Lake Tahoe faces an urgent situation. One of the world's 3 clearest alpine lakes of its size, Lake Tahoe's clarity is being lost at an alarming rate and scientists state that if left unchecked, this loss will be irreversible in less than 25 years. Our goal is to give children an unforgettable experience of the beauty and wonder of this lake, together with the skills to care for it. Our intention is to teach ourselves and one another how to be responsible to turn this loss around and give children the power to make conscientious choices in their future as adult stewards of the environment.
