Mission: The maine public health association is committed to promoting health and health equity in maine through advocacy, education and (grant-funded) programming.
Programs: The maine public health association is committed to promoting health and health equity in maine through advocacy, education and (grant-funded) programming. We prepare and provide testimony about public health-relevant legislation, primarily in the areas of obesity and tobacco policy. We lead the effort to protect the fund for a healthy maine, maine's public health funding mechanism, sourced by tobacco master settlement dollars. We provide educational and networking opportunities for our members, including webinars and conferences that feature ongoing public health work in maine. We distribute a monthly e-newsletter that lists public health events and news from around maine, and across the country. Occasionally, we submit letters to the editor and other opinion pieces to news media about public health current events.
