My 19 month old daughter was found unresponsive on June 11 in my mother’s pool. It was an evening of tornados and storms and we were having a nice dinner with our family. No one expected the worst to happen. Especially when we weren’t even outside! I was able to get to her as fast as I could while my mom had dove in to get her to the edge while my 12 year old son pulled her lifeless body out of the water and laid her in the grass. I immediately started CPR. I had taken a course 11 years prior and luckily remembered everything I could to help save my daughter. Providing her brain with essential oxygen while waiting for the emts to arrive. Once they got on sight they quickly got her into the ambulance and was able to bring back a heart beat. We were rushed to the hospital and thankfully my daughter was in the ICU at children’s for 3 days and we were sent home by the grace of God. I have four children, her being the youngest. I never in my wildest dreams imagined this would happen to me. I immediately started looking at courses and stumbled across this amazing foundation. My daughter is still fearless when it comes to the water and I have some ease knowing this course will help save her and allow her to still enjoy the water. The fact that someone helped provide me with that ease is one of the best things out of this whole horrible experience. Turning a tragedy to something life saving for another family. I will continue to spread the awareness of not only this nonprofit but the possibility of drowning for all. Mentally this was a healing process that has helped me tremendously deal with the trauma of losing my baby for a short time.
We have had an absolutely incredible experience with the LLJ Foundation. We love the structure of weekly check-ins, uploading photos/videos and seeing the progress unfold. We are excited to get involved in fundraisers and we've already participated in a photo challenge they hosted. We are extremely and forever grateful to the LLJ Foundation and family. Thank you!!
LLJ is an amazing Non Profit organization dedicated to ending childhood drowning. LLJ played a huge role in helping me become an ISR Instructor and I will forever be grateful! I don't have words to express our family's gratitude to Live Like Jake Foundation for enabling us to put all 3 of our children through the Infant Self Rescue course. Our youngest daughter, Anna, had a near drowning incident on November 11, 2022. We have a pool and live by a large lake so only a pool fence was not enough for us to fully protect out children. The Live Like Jake team made it financially feasible for us to not only teach Anna to swim and float but her older sister and brother as well. All 3 grew in their swimming abilities and learned to float for the first time. We are in the pool daily practicing now what we learned. ISR lessons were not attainable within our budget, so the financial support to get my 3 kids to learn survival water skills was incredible. I love this nonprofit. We have not received a scholarship from them, but my child did benefit from their efforts by receiving ISR lessons at their pool during chillier months when using my pool was not an option. It’s great they’ve provided a place that can be used for lessons year round.
My husband and I are so thankful for this foundation. We had put off ISR swim lessons for our 3 year old in the previous year because they were so expensive, then we had a near drowning incident at a pool party with our son. People always say it happens so fast and there’s just nothing more true than that statement. After that we knew we needed to make water safety a priority and Live Like Jake has allowed us to begin ISR lessons. The improvement I’ve seen in just the first two weeks is incredible and I can’t wait for our son to finish his lessons and see just how far he’s come.
After our grandchildren came to live with us, our 18 month old grandaughter pushed out the screen and ended up standing at the pool edge when I found her. We received a scholarship for my grandson, whom I have custody of. We live in Rock Hill SC and have a pool on the apartment property so I was very concerned for my grandson because he loves the pool. I wanted him to know how to self rescue and swim. My cousins twin boys drowned in their pool several years ago and I was inspired by her to get the ISR lessons for my grandson Oliver. Oliver took the lessons during the summer of 2020 and has not lost what he learned. He can float, swim, float and get himself out of the pool, he is 4 years old now. Best time we ever spent and best scholarship ever received.

Our family experienced a near drowning in 2012 with our oldest son. Live Like Jake quickly stepped in to offer support to our family and then put our youngest son and our nieces and nephews through survival swim lessons. We have continued to support and follow this foundation and love to see all of the hard work and dedication they put into making sure there is more awareness for drowning prevention.
I am SO glad to have found this nonprofit! We have 5 children and our finances are extremely tight! There was absolutely no way we could afford to have ISR lessons for any one of our children, much less all of them! We applied for the Live Like Jake Foundation Scholarship and received it! Now we are in ISR lessons and our kids are doing great! The older 3 have probably learned enough to save themselves in a water situation, and our younger two (3 year old twins) are well on their way! What a blessing Live Like Jake Foundation has been to us! They have possibly saved the lives of my children! From the deepest part of this Momma's heart, I say Thank you so very much!

Live like Jake foundation helped pay for my two kids to go through ISR swim lessons. I am so thankful for the scholarship they provided the kids. It will ease my anxiety that my kids can survive in the water. My oldest daughter is 4 and has not spent a ton of time around the water, but she is also a clinger. She usually stays by me always. My 19 month old is a different story. He is wild and always exploring. It was pulling on my heart this summer that I was not going to be able to afford and find a spot for them to be taught. I local instructor posted that she had two cancellations. She also posted that Live like Jake provides scholarships. I quickly applied crossing my fingers that we would be approved if it was meant to be. They approved the application SO fast and not only for my youngest, but my oldest child as well. I literally cried I was so thankful. I still am. I hope that next summer we will spend more time around the water, and we will do so knowing that my kids have the survival skills if needed. The most common comment I hear when I am talking about ISR is "well we don't have a pool and are not around water that much." EXACTLY. All the more reason to give your children that skill if you get the opportunity. Live Like Jake foundation is helping parents do just that.

I heard about LLJ through neighbors and friends in my community. Then, they opened an indoor facility within walking distance of my home and childcare! The proximity has made it so convenient to work lessons into my schedule. ISR lessons are so important and I know that thanks to the outreach and awareness by the LLJ foundation. I have been so impressed by my whole experience with Live Like Jake and with ISR. I had such a paranoia about my kids and the water. Them drowning has always been such a fear for me, especially after a near drowning situation with my oldest. The scholarship that LLJ provided allowed me to get 2 of my kids in to lessons with ISR and they both just graduated. They can float and swim to survive until they are rescued or can reach a place to rescue themselves. My fear has almost disappeared and has been replaced with confidence and a better understanding of what to do with them while in the water and out. Thank you so much LLJ!

My youngest daughter, Norah (2), has always been fearless around water. Going under water didn’t scare her. She'd just jump right into a body of water, whether someone was waiting to catch her or not. When I’d rescue her, she’d come up laughing and asking to do it again.
I had always hesitated with survival swim lessons for my girls. I heard horror stories of *gasp* babies crying and being uncomfortable during lessons. I dug a little deeper and stalked a local mom, whose name I had heard quite a bit around various circles of friends. She posted this on Facebook one day, “The crying?? Please. I’ll put you in touch with parents that didn’t want to hear the crying and now they WISH they had that chance!” And reading that changed my life.
We didn’t live on the water. We don’t have a pool. I watch my kids with an eagle eye. But it still gnawed away at me. The lingering possibility. The “what if”s.
The day my sweet Norah graduated from ISR was a sigh of sweet relief. It was 10 minutes a day for about 4 consecutive weeks and now my baby can survive if she were to fall into water. But remember: That’s just one line of defense - supervision is the key! There are many layers that need to be in place to keep our babies safe in and around water.

My little girl had a near drowning experience when she was 4. Thank goodness we were in the pool with her & her dad started CPR immediately. I swore from that day forward all my kids would be water safe. A few months later when our youngest son was born, I knew I had to do something as soon as possible to insure his safety. I watched him like a hawk but I desperately wanted to put him in swim lessons. There were none close or they were constantly booked. When a good friend of ours became an instructor with ISR, I applied right away for classes. She recommended Live Like Jake because of our family size & experience. This organization was talking with me on a personal basis from day one. Not only did my son get water safe but the instructor worked with my daughter also as an added bonus. I am so very grateful for the opportunity allotted my family. I will recommend this organization over & over & over again.
My experience with Live Like Jake is unusual in that I have never used their service as the end customer. I schedule lessons for several ISR instructors and have worked with LLJ many times to get scholarships for our students. Every single interaction with LLJ has been so positive, helpful, and as a result I have seen dozens of children receiving scholarships for live saving swim lessons. I promote LLJ whenever I can on social media and in real life. They are making a huge difference for so, so many families.

The founder of Live Like Jake, Keri Morrison, is the most amazing woman! She personally reaches out to drowning victim’s families to connect and help them through their grief. Keri has made it her mission to end childhood drowning so no parent will have to suffer the pain of losing a child to a drowning accident. The Live Like Jake Foundation works tirelessly to achieve this goal. They host events throughout the year that are uplifting and fun! Their volunteers are positive and kind! This is a phenomenal organization to get involved with!
After a non fatal drowning accident at six months old, the first thing I did was start researching survival swim lessons. However with three kids under four and just one income, I wasn’t sure how we could make it happen. I learned about Live Like Jake and applied for a scholarship. I remember sitting in a parking lot when I received the email and cried hysterically when I learned all three of my children received scholarships. A year later, we are still being blessed by this scholarship. My kids learn more with each lesson they take. Live Like Jake gave my family a gift that we could never repay and knowledge we will never forget.

Live Like Jake provided scholarships to both of my children for ISR swim lessons, at a time when we needed it most. Keri is very passionate and treated us as family. Because of the generosity of the LLJ family, my kids are skilled and safe!

I am an ISR Instructor with Infant Swimming Resource. The Live Like Jake Foundation helps families who can not afford swimming lessons by granting a scholarship for them. They also help families who have lost a child to drowning and those who have had a nearing drowning with hospital expenses! This Foundation is helping to spread DrowningcAwareness around the world. Selfless caring and loving family. Simply, they are priceless!!!!
I have been a supporter of LLJ for a few years now—Keri is an inspiring individual and the work she has done in her son Jake’s honor is nothing short of phenomenal!
This Foundation is amazing. They have helped so many families with making their children safer around the water by offering scholarships for swim survival lessons. They have also helped families whose children have suffered because of a near drowning incident. The President of this Foundation has also personally contacted parents who lost their children to a drowning to console and offer help.
LLJ foundation is an incredible organization that I’ve worked with for a few years. They are dedicated to raising awareness for childhood drowning and funds to help families pay for survival swim lessons.

LLJ is amongst three charities that I donate to. My church and St. Judes Hospital are the other two. I only donate our family's hard earned money to organizations I trust and I know first hand what an amazing job LLJ does to prevent the next child from drowning. They are excellent stuarts of donated money and I trust them!

Live Like Jake has been a true blessing to our family. With their assistance I was able to obtain swim rescue lessons for all three of my children that we could not afford otherwise. With a backyard pool water safety has always been a major concern but most safety measures seemed so out of reach with a limited income. Keri and Live Like Jake have been a pleasure to work with. We are forever grateful for the gift she has given my children!
I nearly lost my 19 month old daughter, Mila, in my backyard pool after she snuck out undetected. I found her unconscious and thought The worst. Thank God I was able to revive her with the help of my neighbor. She luckily is still with us today and is perfectly perfect. The Live Like Jake foundation reached out to me afte this horrific incident and provided Mila with a scholarship for ISR lessons. She has since completed her lessons!! LLJ also set us up with Life Saver pool fence who installed a fence in my back yard free of charge. I cannot explain what this peace of mind has done for me and my family.
