Lake Cares, Inc. Food Pantry continues to impress with their warm and caring approach to all who hunger. The volunteers are passionate about meeting the needs of all who come in need. The clients receive a generous amount of food and it is even delivered to the cars for them. Additionally they are referred to other community resources available to them for which they may not be aware.
The greater community supports Lake Cares through food drives, fund raisers, and volunteering in general.

I started volunteering at Lake Cares in January of 2016. The atmosphere in the building is upbeat and contagious. I would see the look on the faces of clients on distibution days, and their faces would light up when they knew they would have something to eat that day. It takes a lot of hard work, but the reward is a full heart knowing that you are making a change in the life if someone else!

As a board member and a weekly volunteer I can honestly say I have never been involved with a more caring, compassionate and effective organization. This is a top notch group that gets the job done with an ever increasing demand from our community to provide more and more services. I am proud to be a small part of this great effort. The staff and numerous volunteers are tireless and unwavering in accomplishing our mission.

The Congregation of Saint Philip Lutheran Church would like to rate Lake Cares Food Pantry 5 Stars Plus. The reason with out there support our community would not be supply 50 Plus children every School weekend with food to survive. Saint Philip Lutheran Church and Thrivent Financial share funding to the food pantry in which the church is able to supply nourishment each week end, the funds are very small compare to the amount of food given. This is don't ever week that school in progress. Then During the summer months Lake Care Food Pantry supply food for 3,000 children. Thanks for hearing this story. Robert Lange

One in six Central Floridians struggle with hunger and food insecurity. More specifically, in Lake County, 45,120 people face every day uncertain about putting food on the table.

Many of those facing that uncertainty are certain that through the vigorous and dedicated efforts of Irene O'Malley and Lake Cares Inc. that they can rely on nourishing, consistent meals for their children and families through every season.

Lake Cares has expanded its reach as the need has grown and nurtured solid relationships with other organizations to fill the area's growling stomachs.

The community of Mount Dora has really come together in this ministry to help those in need, within the Mount Dora community and also in many more areas outside of Mount Dora. Even in the hurricane aftermath when power had not yet been restored, the very capable executive director made sure that anyone without food would be able to get some emergency supplies. In addition, volunteers came together to deliver water and food to hurricane victims in a nearby city. Volunteers flock to help in this ministry because it does such a great job of helping people who are less fortunate.

The most complete non-profit I have ever been apart of. I currently sit on 3 boards and have supported non-profits for over 30 years. Lake Cares is not just a food bank, they help their clients with so many other parts of their life, such as food stamps, medical referrals, high school GED, local Tech School. You do not feel like a number when you have your pick-up day. They take the time to see what foods your family prefers, any allergies and many times they have personal care items, animal food, school supplies, you name it. It is an honor to be associated with Lake Cares, of Lake County Florida!
As with most companies the care and support starts from the top down - Irene O'Malley is what Lake Cares is all about. She has a heart of gold, full of compassion, but also a great business women and leader. She should be Women of the Year!!

Lake Cares goes above and beyond in their role to assist families in their time of need. Not only do they provide food, they help their clients apply for food stamps, medical insurance and offer information on other programs that might be available. The staff and volunteers treat everyone with the utmost respect and care.
