Mission: The mission of the foundation for knox community hospital is to establish and maintain relationships that generate philanthropic support for the hospital and to provide education and support for effective hospital advocacy and governance thereby enhancing the hospitals ability to fulfill its community hospital mission.
Programs: Contributions to hospital for purchase of downtown office building - the foundation for knox community hospital (kch) raised funds for the purchase of a downtown mount vernon, ohio building to be refurbished and house kch's financial division. This is in support of the community's effort to revitalize the downtown district.
contributions for nursing scholarships - the foundation for knox community hospital holds funds that have been designated for a nursing scholarship. The future nurses club at kch uses given funds to offer scholarships based on need and merit and the foundation holds and disburses the monies. There is an application and selection criteria to screen interested students. The scholarship funds are sent directly to the institution providing the education.
in-kind purchases to hospital for needed items used in the palliative care and cancer oncology units - from time to time, the palliative care unit at knox community hospital (kch) holds special services for family members, or provides additional training for their staff. These items are funded by monies given to a restricted fund for that unit. Additionally, for the comfort of cancer patients and their families, the center for cancer care may purchase items or services of benefit to them.
contributions to hospital for purchases of needed medical equipment - in 2015, the foundation embarked on a first ever 2-year (2015-2016) campaign - "your family, your health, your hospital". The goal was to raise over $750,000, for 2 cutting edge pieces of equipment, 3d mammagraphy machines. This equipment will greatly enhance the hospital's breast health services for the surrounding population.
